Bridgestone Manufacturing Facilities
Our Japanese tyre factories are capable of manufacturing tyres to suit the largest pieces of earthmoving equipment available on the market. Shimonoseki is the world's largest factory for producing large off-the-road tyres, and specialises in tyres for heavy construction equipment. The world's largest tyre, the Bridgestone 59/80R63, is produced at this factory. Shimonoseki is located adjacent to a shipping port, allowing direct loading onto ships for transport to mine sites around the world -- eliminating the need to transport them by road within Japan , and substantially cutting transport costs. Tyres from our US plants include Firestone products for forestry and compact equipment applications. As part of the manufacturing process, Bridgestone undertakes its own quality control program to ensure uniform excellence of its tyres. Each tyre is given a data card, and is inspected and confirmed at every step of production, with a final inspection by X-ray. |
